Uncle Pete’s 60th
October 30, 2011
Everyone had a blast. Glad the party went very well.
The party planning count for this year is 2 big birthdays: Uncle Pete’s 60th and Uncle William’s 70th, and 5 fundraisers: PTA Gala Dinner, SAS Star Appeal Dinner, Art Aid 2011, The Centre for Fathering’s 10th Anniversary Gala and the DUAL Ball. That’s more than 1 event every 2 months. Enough!

Fathers’ Day Festivities
June 20, 2011
Mom cooked her Vietnamese specialities again, and we invited Eve, Eric, Mr Fogarty, Maura, Mohamed and the Tuckers to join us for dinner. It was fun catching up with everyone over a huge feast. I love Vietnamese beef noodles! It was a nice was to fete fathers at one go. We missed Sarah very much though. At least Sophie perked up after seeing Quinn! Her best buddy is finally back. They have 3 weeks together before Sophie has to take off for vacation and they have to deal with withdrawals again.
Mom’s Housewarming Party
June 6, 2011
Mom had the family over today for her housewarming party. She cooked up a storm and conducted quite a few tours of every room (closet and drawer). She especially loved surprising people with her craftily hidden bomb shelter entrance. She had a custom made cabinet on castors fitted in front of the shelter door and she enjoyed revealing her “surprise. We thought she was cute!

What A Production

SRT’s Theatre Ball was a visual treat. Aside from the wonderfully decorated ballroom, I was greatly entertained by the guests’ interpretation of the evening’s theme: All The World’s A Stage (from Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”). I spied characters from just about the complete works of Shakespeare: Anthony & Cleopatra, Puck as a Donkey, loads of fairies, folk in an assortment of Elizabethan garb, and my favourite: a chap sporting an afro wig, a blackened face and a leisure suit (I told him I figured him more for Papa Doc Duvalier or Muammar Gaddafi!) . This enterprising fellow turned out to be seated next to me at dinner. When asked, he informed me that he was Othello on vacation! I enjoyed chatting with him but warned him that I’d never recognize him after last night! It was fun catching up with lots of people. No one seemed to stay in their seat for more than 10 minutes. The dance floor was packed throughout the night, and champagne was flowing. What a party.
